KSAZ Fox 10 (AZ): Support for Marijuana Legalization Grows Among Moms

Mothers for marijuana? There's a movement gaining momentum that asks people to reconsider drug policies that punish pot users.

A Scottsdale mother is among those attending the Women's Marijuana Movement press conference at the Colorado State Capitol.

Supporters say marijuana is a safer alternative to alcohol, which can lead to crimes like domestic violence and sexual assault. They argue that prohibiting marijuana actually makes us less safe.

"As a mother of two I know this, that marijuana prohibition will cause far greater harm to my family and the future of my children than any consumption of marijuana ever could," says Jessica Corry from the Women's Marijuana Movement.

Opponents say marijuana is an addictive drug that impairs judgment and impacts brain development in teenagers.
