Students at Front Range Community College in Longmont will join
those at more than 80 other schools across the nation Thursday to
advocate for marijuana as a “safer alternative to alcohol,” said Mason
Tvert of Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation.
The event was scheduled for April Fool’s Day on purpose, Tvert said in a release.
“Campus safety is no joke. (We) urge universities to reduce
penalties for marijuana use. (We are) calling on universities to stop
driving students to drink (and) allow them to use marijuana as a safer
alternative to alcohol,” the release said.
Students at the University of Colorado, Boulder, the University of
Denver, the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, Fort Lewis
College, Metro State College of Denver, the University of Colorado,
Denver, the Community College of Denver and the Art Institute of
Colorado also will participate in rallies.
The Longmont event will start at noon Thursday, April 1 in Room
C1482, Building C, Front Range Community College, 2190 Miller Drive.
