Yesterday, DEA Adminstrative Law Judge Mary Ellen Bittner recommended that the federal government stop impeding medical marijuana research and provide University of Massachusetts-Amherst Professor Lyle Craker a supply of marijuana that can legally be used in FDA-approved marijuana research. On Monday night the George Washington University Student Association Senate passed a resolution recognizing that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and calling on the University to reduce its penalties for marijuana use so that they are no harsher than those for alcohol use. SAFER worked with the GW chapter of NORML to introduce the measure and will continue to work with these students to push for its implementation. |

Denver Post columnist Cindy Rodriguez is on a mission: a mission to save "the children." As you might recall, Ms. Rodriguez devoted multiple Sunday columns during the Colorado initiative campaign to the anti-marijuana mantra, "What about the children?" This latest piece is not nearly as dramatized, but Rodriquez's hypocrisy still shines through. |
